The international standard ISO 21500 (Project Management – Guidance on project management) provides guidance on project management concepts and processes that are important and impactful for project performance. This standard is based on the definition of eleven concepts and provides standardizable processes for 38 project management processes (excluding transformation and support) in five process groups and ten subject groups as follows:

It also covers ten subject groups: integration, stakeholders, scope, resources, time, cost, risk, quality, procurement, and communications. The process’s objective is to achieve the outcomes described in the process. The process description includes guidelines for implementing the process, which is considered mandatory. The inputs and outputs of each process, in addition to outlining the process interconnections, can serve as indicators for measuring process effectiveness. Project-oriented organizations, as well as organizations that have some project-based activities or have project management offices, can organize their activities based on this standard.
